  • RD Tuna Occupational Health and Safety Policy

    RD Tuna Canners Ltd will conduct our business activities and provide a work environment that will protect the health, safety and welfare of all people including staff, contractors and the public affected by our work place activities.

    We will actively encourage minimization of risk in working practices as well as of the job. We will also maintain an effective and efficient quality system, which encompasses all of our professional services, to meet the needs of our customers’ requirements, government statutory standards; and will strive for continuous improvement in our health and safety performance towards the achievement of best practice standards.

    To achieve a healthy, low risk and safety working environment, commitment and cooperation of all staff, visitors and contractors are essential. The General Manager, Safety Officers and the Departmental Managers are responsible for the implementation of this Policy.

    To support this policy, RDTC shall:

    1. Meeting or exceeding relevant legislation and statutory requirements, compliance and advisory standards, codes of practice, guidance notes and industry standards, and make adequate provision of resources to meet these requirements.
    2. Maintain effective analyses and reporting hazard, incident and non-conformance.
    3. Involve all staff in the workplace for health and safety matters and consult them in ways to reduce workplace risks and improve control systems.
    4. Using a risk management approach in consultation with staff, determine the risks associated with the identified hazards to staff, clients, contractors, or the community and implement appropriate controls over those risks that are judged to be unacceptable.
    5. Promote OHS&W awareness in the development and implementation of standard work practice.
    6. Provide information, education, training and instruction, to enable all employees to perform their duties to the extent that OHS&W standards are not compromised, and to assist the achievement of best practice standards in all facets of our operations.
    7. Report all injuries and accidents and where appropriate, rectify hazards and faults and participate in the analysis of any accidents or non-conformance, protect all persons and the community that may be affected by their activities.

    No task will be undertaken if Health, Safety & Welfare will be compromised.

    Philbest Canning Corporation is committed to produce and deliver safe with quality, globally competitive products and services while providing a safe and healthy work environment for employees, customers, subcontractors, contractors, suppliers, and visitors and preventing occupational illness and injury by striving to meet and periodically evaluate compliance with safety and health laws, regulations, customer’s requirements, and other applicable legal requirements to which the PBCC subscribes. Consequently, we preserve the health and well-being of individuals involved in routine and non-routine activities.

    We continually improve the effectiveness of Occupational Safety and Health Management System by preventing and eliminating, where possible, occupational incidents/accidents, injuries and illnesses at workplaces.

    We communicate Occupational Safety and Health policy, programs and initiatives to everyone working for or on behalf of the company, and where practicable, make this updated at all times and available to persons working under the control of the organization, and other relevant interested parties.

    We encourage customers, contractors, subcontractors, visitors and suppliers to adopt PBCC’s Safety and Health principle and practice while functioning in or in behalf the company.

    We establish and implement objectives, targets, and programs aimed at improving Occupational Safety and Health performance, and conduct meaningful management system audits and reviews to ensure adherence to this policy.
